SETUP / SUBSCRIPTION / CONNECTION
Quick Start: Subscriptions and Clients
Activate a plan in the user panel, then import your subscription into the client for your device. This guide follows the steps for a first-time setup, ending with route selection and a check that the connection works.
ACCOUNT
Create an Account and Sign In
Choose “Free Trial” below to open the VPN54 user panel’s account creation page. Accounts use a username and password; no email address is required. Check your username and password as you enter them, then follow the on-screen instructions to submit. Store your login details in a password manager or another secure place. You’ll need this account to get your subscription, check your data usage, and submit a support ticket.
Once your account is created, open the user panel. If you see a sign-in option, log in with the username and password you just set—there’s no need to create another account. Make sure the panel opens before moving on to choose a plan. Creating an account and activating a plan are separate steps: access to the panel does not mean you already have a subscription you can connect with.
If you already have a VPN54 account, select “Sign In” in the page header to access it. Keep your plan, subscription, and support tickets in the same account so you don’t end up unable to find your plan after paying from a different account. On a shared device, don’t save your login details in the browser, and sign out of the panel before you leave.
PLAN
Choose a Plan and Complete Payment
After signing in, open the plans page in the user panel. First decide how you’ll use the service, then compare data options. For regular use, consider a monthly plan. If your usage is occasional and you prefer to use data as needed, consider a data package. Monthly plans and data packages are billed differently, so don’t compare them by total price alone. Monthly plan data resets each month on the activation date; data packages remain available until used and never expire.
Monthly plans include ¥9.9/month with 60GB, ¥18/month with 250GB, and ¥28/month with 500GB. Data packages include ¥158/300GB, ¥358/1000GB, and ¥658/3000GB. Choose based on your typical browsing, video streaming, or file transfer use. You don’t need to compare protocol differences during your initial setup. Every plan supports unlimited devices and comes with a 7-day refund guarantee.
On the order confirmation page for your chosen plan, check the plan name, price, and billing terms. Then follow the instructions to pay with Alipay, WeChat Pay, or USDT. When payment is complete, return to the user panel and check your order and plan status. If the payment page shows success but your plan hasn’t appeared in the panel, check the original order status first rather than placing another order. If you still have questions, describe the issue in a support ticket through the panel.
Continue to the next step once your plan appears correctly. If you already have a monthly plan and want to upgrade, the price difference is converted into remaining days. Check the settlement details shown in the panel before proceeding. For full pricing and billing information, see the Plans and Pricing page. This guide covers only what you need to decide during initial setup.
SUBSCRIPTION
Get Your Subscription in the User Panel
After activating a plan, open the account overview in the user panel and find the subscription section. Your subscription link lets the client retrieve available routes and their configurations. It is not a regular web address or an installer. Before copying the link, make sure you’re signed in to the account with the active plan, then check your plan status and remaining data. This can help you avoid mistaking an account issue for a client problem.
If the panel offers an import option for your client, use it if possible. Your device may ask whether to open the corresponding app. Check the app name, allow it to open, then confirm that the subscription has been added in the client. If the client isn’t installed yet, install it as described in the next section, then return to the overview and import your subscription. Avoid clicking the launch option repeatedly.
To import manually, use the copy function in the panel to copy the full subscription link, then paste it into the client. Don’t copy only the shortened portion shown on the page or add any text before or after the link. If the client reports an invalid address, copy the link again from the panel; this is usually more reliable than trying to fix it by hand.
Use this subscription entry point for the import steps on each platform below. VPN54 supports unlimited devices. To connect another device, sign in to the panel on that device, get your subscription, and import it. Don’t share your subscription with others.
CLIENT IMPORT
Install a Client and Import Your Subscription
Open the client section of the user panel and choose your device’s platform. Sign in to download the Windows, macOS, Android, or Linux client; a valid plan is required to access the iOS download. Installing the client is only the first step—you still need to import your subscription, load the routes, and turn on the connection. Get the client from the panel rather than choosing an installer from an unverified source with a similar name.
For your first setup, use the VPN54 client provided in the panel. It retrieves route configurations through subscription management, so you don’t need to enter server addresses, ports, or protocol settings one by one. Depending on the version, the relevant section may be called “Subscription,” “Configuration,” or “Configuration Management.” Open it, choose the option to add from a link, and use the address you copied in the previous section.
Windows: Import from Subscription or Configuration Settings
Choose the Windows client in the user panel, download it, and follow the installation instructions. Once it’s running, open the subscription or configuration settings and select “Add subscription,” “Import from URL,” or a similar option. Paste the full link, enter a name you’ll recognize, save it, and update the subscription. Wait for the route list to appear, then select this configuration as the active one; don’t stop at seeing it in the “Added” list.
Return to the client’s home screen, choose a route, and turn on the system proxy. If you’re using a mode that requires a virtual network interface, grant the requested system permissions. Keep the default client mode for your first setup; you can consider changing it after verifying the connection. For more on installation, importing a subscription, and launching at startup, see our Windows Setup Guide for Beginners.
macOS: Import a Configuration and Check System Permissions
Get the macOS client from the panel, follow the installation instructions to place the app where you want it, then open it. Go to configuration or subscription management, choose the option to import from a link, paste the subscription address, and save. Once the routes have updated, confirm that the new configuration is active, then return to the home screen and choose a route. If macOS asks you to approve a network extension, proxy, or VPN configuration, check that the request comes from the client you just installed before allowing it.
If the connection doesn’t work after you click Connect, first check System Settings for any pending permission requests, then confirm that the client is enabled. Don’t repeatedly delete the subscription or reinstall the app before completing the permission steps. The exact settings path varies by macOS version. If yours looks different, see our macOS Installation and Permissions Guide, then return here to verify the connection.
Android: Add a Subscription and Allow the VPN Connection
Sign in to the user panel to get the Android client, then follow your device’s installation instructions. In the client, open subscription or configuration settings, choose the option to add from a link, paste the subscription address, and update it. Once the route list appears, select a configuration and route, then tap Connect. The first time Android asks whether the app can set up a VPN connection, check the app name and source before allowing it.
After connecting, leave the client settings unchanged and test the app you want to use. If the connection drops when you return to the home screen or your device goes to sleep, check whether the system restricts the client’s background activity and adjust the available settings if needed. Background settings vary by device, so this guide doesn’t list a fixed menu path. Avoid changing several system settings at once during initial setup; otherwise, it can be hard to tell which change made a difference.
iOS: Get and Import the Client from the Panel
A valid plan is required to access the iOS download. Once your plan is active, open the iOS client section in the user panel and follow the instructions to get the app. After installing it, return to the panel. If an import option is available for your client, follow the prompts to open it. Alternatively, in the client’s subscription or configuration settings, choose to add from a link and paste the full subscription address.
When the update is complete, select a route from your subscription and turn on the connection. If iOS asks to add a VPN configuration, check the app and allow it, then complete the system authorization steps. Return to the client to check the connection status, then open the app you want to use. If another VPN configuration is active on your device, disconnect it before testing this client to avoid having the connections interfere with each other.
A successful import means the client shows a route list, not just a saved subscription name. If the list is empty, try updating it manually, check your plan status in the panel, and make sure the link was copied in full. See the Protocol and Route Guide for information on protocols and route types. You don’t need to edit the subscription configuration manually for your first setup.
VERIFY CONNECTION
Choose a Route and Verify the Connection
Choose a route with an exit location that matches the region of the service you want to use, then return to the client’s home screen and connect. Make sure the system proxy or VPN mode is enabled; selecting a route alone isn’t enough. Open the website or app you want to use and check that pages load fully and sign-in works. For the first test, stick to the same app and actions. Avoid changing the route, mode, and target service all at once.
Next, open this site’s IP Lookup page to check your browser’s current exit IP and compare its location with the selected route. The result can help confirm whether your browser traffic is using the connection, but don’t rely only on the status shown in the client. With rule-based routing, different sites may use different routes, so an IP lookup can’t replace testing the service you want to access.
If regular websites load but a particular service doesn’t, first check your account status with that service, its supported regions, and any on-screen messages. Then try another route suited to the service’s region. Streaming catalogs and access to AI tools may be affected by platform policies, so a working connection doesn’t guarantee that a particular service will allow access. Don’t delete all your configurations because of an error on a single page.
If none of your target sites load, retrace the setup in order: check your plan and remaining data in the panel, confirm the subscription updated successfully, check the active client configuration and connection toggle, then try another route. Change one thing at a time and note what happens before and after. For more troubleshooting steps, see the Help Center. This guide doesn’t cover network fundamentals.
Once the connection is working, everyday use usually means opening the client, checking the active configuration, and choosing a route. To refresh the route list, use the subscription update feature. When setting up another device, repeat the import steps for its platform. If you still need help, submit a support ticket in the user panel. Include your device platform, the client error, what you were doing when it occurred, and the checks you’ve tried. Don’t include your password or full subscription link.
